Best time to be there
Summer (March – June ) is the best season to visit Sikkim, weather remains pleasant throughout season. Clear sky provides convenience to have spectacular views of Himalayan peaks.
How to reach
There are several ways you can reach Sikkim. Cab for either Gangtok/Pelling is available just outside New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway station. Standardized rate card provided by West Bengal Government in the same place. Share cab facility also available outside NJP station where you need to bargain a lot. Hence no need to book a cab in advance for you travel needs. It takes around 4-5 hours to reach the Gangtok city taxi stand from NJP in normal road conditions.
The nearest airport is Bagdogra, again cabs are available just outside the airport gate.
There are other connecting routes between other neighboring states and Gangtok, hence It is also a good idea to book direct cabs in case you are traveling from one of them.

- Keep your travel documents and identity proofs handy at all time.
- Cabs are also available in most of the important places, so booking cab locally is a good idea than booking for the entire period.
- It is a good idea to carry a binocular which helps to relish the breathtaking view of Himalayan peaks from a close range.
- Have a heavy breakfast and take dry foods with you along the journey.
- Hilly roads and forest alongside is always a treat to your eyes, but don’t forget to take medicines while traveling on hills.
